Meet Dawn
Dawn Baird—author and speaker—served in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for thirty-five years. Dawn, along with her husband and their three children, set off for a remote village in the Ituri Rain forest in January of 1982. She lived a life filled with adventure and sometimes danger, always gaining the joy that comes from being held in God’s nurturing hands. Dawn is currently writing her second book loosely titled “A Study in Undefeated Joy.” Her first book, “Joshua Moves to the Jungle,” is the exciting story of her two-year old son’s first year in Congo, and will soon be available on Amazon and Good Books.
Dawn has a BA from Lincoln Christian University and an MA from Illinois State University in English Studies and Teaching English as another language. She now resides in Portland, Oregon with her husband Bob, and oldest daughter, Elizabeth.

Joshua Moves to the Jungle
What sights! What sounds! Dancing! Swaying! Brightly colored clothing! The Babali people are singing a welcome song but the words are strange to Joshua’s ears.
Joshua has arrived at his new home in the hot, steamy air of the Ituri Rain Forest with his mom, dad, and two big sisters.
Come along on a young boy’s grand adventure in Congo, Africa.
